TOY NEWS FOR 4/5/2013 - HOT TOYS - IRON MAN 3 - IRON MAN MK XLII (32)

I'm not gonna beat around the bush on this point-- Hot Toys is just getting too damned hard to collect these days.

In my humble opinion, they are the absolute best representation of real-life (meaning not comic book or cartoon) movie figures one could ever hope for. They are the cutting-edge of modern day figure making. And, to be honest, almost nothing comes close to what Hot Toys can do.

The only problem with Hot Toys is the price. I'm not in saying that they aren't worth it. I mean, they are the Lamborghini of action figures, but if you collect other things, or don't have a decent amount of extra cash to spend on a fairly regular basis, then you know the pain of trying to keep up with Hot Toys' latest releases.

With Hot Toys now adding diecast to all of their upcoming Iron Man figures, the price has increased by about $60 per figure, which means that we are now over the $300 mark for a 12" action figure.

How much longer can Hot Toys keep increasing their prices before they start to see a serious drop in their consumer base? Well, so far, it hasn't really happened yet. Figures are still selling out and demanding much higher after-market prices. (Not all, but a decent amount of them.)

Alright, I shut my yapper and move on to the freakin' awesome figure of Tony Stark in his Iron Man Mk XLII (32) armor. I have mixed feeling about this armor. While I love the design and details, I just don't think that Iron Man should have this much yellow in his armor. But I get it, all the armors can't look the same because it effects the merchandising of the character. The Mk III through VII didn't have that much variation, meaning that in order for people to really want to buy figures, toys, posters, beach towels, mugs, bobble heads, banks and whatever else they're making, it needs to look marginally different from the previous designs on the aforementioned merchandise.

Okay, I'm yappin' again. I'll show you the damn figure already.
