(LATE) TOY NEWS FOR 10/24/2013 - NYCC - PLAY IMAGINATIVE - SUPER ALLOY [DIE-CAST] - IRON MAN SERIES

This is freakin' redonkulous!!

Okay.... Take a breath... This is some seriously overwhelming shit.

Just look at this display from NYCC. Play Imaginative has to be the most ambitious company in all the collectibles world, at the moment.

With figures made of over 80% die-cast, these beauties don't come cheap. The 1/4 scale figures run around $600 with the 1/12 scale figures coming in at just over $100 each.

You'd think with those prices, and the limited amount of collectors who could afford such things in an already small collector's market, that Play Imaginative would roll out their Iron Man line in a slower pace. Something that would allow them to gauge whether or not it's worth sculpting the next batch of new figures. But that seems to be the furthest thing from what they're actually doing.

They seem to have sculpted almost every Iron Man (all 42 Marks) in either-- or both-- the 1/4 scale and 1/12 scale and seem convinced that they're not going to overwhelm the market.

Since I'm not Elmer J Fudd and I don't own a mansion and a yacht (kudos to those of you who get that reference!) the 1/4 scale figures are far beyond my realm of collecting, but those 6" die-cast figures look absolutely brilliant and I'm strongly considering picking a few up. The care and quality of the packaging and product certainly look to be top-notch.

Well, I guess it's time for those pictures.... Prepare for insanity!

(Special thanks to the good folks over at toyark.com for the beautiful photos!!)
