TOY NEWS FOR 9/18/2014 - ACI TOYS - LORD OF THE RINGS - 1/6 SCALE ARAGORN

Finally! Someone is stepping up to replace those old, not so great 1/6 scale Lord of the Rings Fellowship figures from Sideshow that were released many years ago.

I'm sure most of you aren't familiar with ACI. They are a 1/6 scale manufacturing company who've been in the game for years now, and they produce some of the better 1/6 scale figure out there. They're not at good as Hot Toys, but then again, no one is, but ACI is definitely towards the top of the 2nd tier 1/6 scale figure companies.

But, you don't need me to tell you that-- the pictures here speak for themselves.

I absolutely love the LOTR films, and Aragon in particular (but, y'know, it a very hetero way), so I'm an definitely excited about this figure-- and to see what else ACI has planned for the LOTR line.

But, like all good things, there is a down side to this figure, and that is the cost.

Hot Toys' price for a regular release figure has climbed to around $220, which is not cheap. But you know with HT that you're going to get the best of the best in every area of 1/6 scale figure making. Some of the other companies, however, don't always live up to their prototype pics and can sometimes suffer from some quality control issues, so it can be a bit of a gamble.

ACI's Aragorn will cost a whopping $280 dollars. At that price, ACI needs to deliver a flawless figure. And, as much as I want this figure and love LOTR, the price is a bit off-putting. This might be one of those "I'll need to see online reviews first" type figures. If the consensus is that he's worth it, then I'll drop the dough, but if there are issues, I'm not shelling out $300 after shipping for a figure with issues. I've got by fingers crossed, though.

There will also be an exclusive version of the figure that will include the "Narsil" sword. That version will be priced at $289.99 while the regular edition will be $279.99. He has a release date of Q1 2015
